Learn More About Our History

The Pleasant Acres Motel has established a warm, rich history in the Tomah community since it was built. It was originally built in 1952 with 10 rooms by Charles Shultze, who named it the Pleasant Acres Court. In 1960, the Trapp's purchased the Motel and added two additional rooms. When the town and community grew into a popular traveler destination, it became increasingly important to find temporary accommodations for soldiers and their families. The Williams' then purchased the motel and added two additional rooms for a total of 14 rooms in 1987. In 1999, the Waddell's purchased the motel from the Williams' family. Then in 2009, Maggie Overby individually purchased the motel and is still running it to this day.  Maggie prides herself with offering the same service and attention to guests' needs as when it was first established so many years ago. It has been a source of pride and joy for Maggie to maintain the reputation of this comfortable motel, while updating it for guest to enjoy all the modern conveniences they appreciate while away from their home. We look forward to having you stay with us whether for a night or longer.  By staying with us, you are ensuring that family owned motels will remain part of Tomah’s future.
